Safety First!

• Firearms can be dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Proper and safe firearms handling is the responsibility of anyone who touches or uses a firearm.
• When purchasing a firearm, you assume responsibility for its safe use, storage and transportation. Particularly, it is critical that firearms be kept from unauthorized use, and this includes children. Your responsibility also includes, but is not limited to, the need to protect yourself and others from injury resulting from the misuse or abuse of a firearm.
• At all times, treat firearms as though they are loaded.
• Always be aware of where the muzzle is pointed.
• At all times, carry your firearm in a way that will preclude accidental injury to yourself or others in the event you should stumble, fall, or drop the firearm. Before shooting, make certain the barrel has no obstructions.
• Do not allow a firearm or ammunition to be left unattended. Secure both the firearm and ammunition from access by unauthorized people, including children.
• When shooting, always be certain that the area beyond the target, including the backstops, is clear and safe. Also make certain that shots fired present no safety hazards for yourself, or others.
• Always use both ear and eye protection when shooting.
• Always use factory-loaded ammunition designed for and intended to be used in the firearm you are shooting. It must be the proper caliber and type for your firearm.
• Always understand the proper operation of your firearm, and never allow the firearm to be used by anyone who does not understand how to use the firearm properly and safely.
• Never pass a firearm to another person unless the action is open and the firearm is in an unloaded and safe condition. Never put your finger into the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
• When not using the firearm, ensure that it is unloaded.
• Store your firearm unloaded and in an area which is secure from unauthorized access. Further, store ammunition separately, and in an area secure from unauthorized access.

SPA300 O\U SHOTGUN:

• The shotgun you have just acquired is fitted with a double trigger. Your gun can thus fire two shots in quick succession. Trigger mechanism is simple to use. The front trigger shoots the upper barrel, and the back trigger shoots the under barrel.
• The timing of the action and the fitting of the barrels to the receiver have been done with the greatest care, an essential feature to retain proper pressure, even after prolonged use. You should thus not be surprised if your shotgun is somewhat tight to begin with.

AMMUNITION:

• The caliber and the length of the chamber are indicated on the side of the upper barrel.
• Never fire a cartridge, which does not correspond to these indications.

BE CAREFUL!

• It is not the length of the cartridge, but that of the uncrimped case, which must correspond to the prescribed chamber length.
• In order to avoid mistakes, it is simplest to carefully read the inscription on the cartridge box or on the cartridge itself.

SAFETY:

• The shotgun is on SAFE when the thumb has moved the safety catch to the rear. In this position an S will be seen immediately behind the top lever (fig.1) . Always set the gun to safe, except when firing!

ASSEMBLING YOUR NEW SHOTGUN

• It is absolutely necessary to rid the metal surfaces of the gun anti-corrosion product with which they were coated prior to leaving the factory. Be especially careful to clean the barrel bores and the inside of the action frame. Any good gun oil will make this task all the easier.

  Prior to assembling the gun make sure the chambers are empty! Remove the forearm from the barrels by lifting the locking lever and simultaneously separating forearm from barrels (fig.4). After careful cleaning of all external metal parts, lightly oil (one or two drops will do) the front and side surfaces of the hinge hook, the side surfaces of the locking lugs and the for-end (fig.5).

  To assemble the barrels to the action frame, take the stock by the grip in your right hand and hold it firmly by pressing it against your body with your forearm and elbow. Open the top lever with your right thumb. Take the barrels in your left hand and engage hinge hook over the action frame pin (fig.6).

  Keeping the hinge hook pressed against the pin to retain the barrel to the action alignment, pivot the barrels to close the gun (fig.7) and release the top lever.

  Set the rear of the fore-end against the action frame and pivot it upwards towards the barrels until it locks into position (fig.8).

BE CAREFUL!

• Handle the parts carefully during the assembly, without forcing. If the barrels are not properly engaged into the action frame or if the alignment is not correct, forcing the parts together will only damage the bearing surfaces, spoil the adjustments and reduce the useful service life of the gun. If the barrels should not fall perfectly into place in the action frame, check alignment and proper positioning by starting at point C. above.

LOADING AND FIRING:

• Before loading the gun, make sure it is on SAFE!
• To load, push the top lever to the right and break the gun. Insert a cartridge into each chamber or into the barrel chamber, which you wish to use and close the gun.
• The selection of the barrel, which is to be fired, first can only be carried out when the catch has gone through the safe position. The second shot will be available after the first shoot.Be careful that never try to push both two triggers at the same time. Be sure to completely release the trigger after firing. If the trigger does not return to its initial position, the mechanisms will not engage for the second shot so that a fresh pull on the trigger will be without effect, allowing the shooter to think that the action may be defective.
• Incomplete release of the trigger normally occurs due to the excitement of the moment or when the firing rate is too fast. However, it is necessary to push the safety catch to the rear (safe position) and then to the front (firing position). The position of the catch makes this operation very easy, even when the gun is shouldered.

DISASSEMBLY (For Cleaning):

• After making sure no cartridge is left in either chamber, lock the gun.
• Remove the forearm by keeping the stock steady with your right arm and operating the fore-end lock with your left hand. As you do this, separate the fore-end from the barrels (fig.4).
• Break the gun and carefully disengage the barrels from the action frame. Replace the forearm on the barrels by lifting the locking lever; this will help prevent damage to the fore-end.
• The top lever can also be released by lowering the cocking lever located in the receiver recess.
• There is no need to disassembly your shotgun any further for cleaning.
• Be sure to use a high quality gun oil leaving a light film over the metal parts to prevent corrosion.
• To reassemble your shotgun after cleaning refer to the paragraph 'Assembling Your New Shotgun".

With proper care and cleaning, your shotgun will last a life time.
